Small Kitchen Tweaks That Make Everyday Meals Slightly Healthier

-

You don’t need a complete diet overhaul to move in a healthier direction. Small kitchen tweaks, repeated daily, quietly change what ends up on your plate.

Start with oil and salt. Measuring oil with a spoon instead of pouring directly from the bottle often cuts extra calories without you noticing. Tasting food before adding extra salt, and flavouring with herbs, spices, lemon or vinegar, keeps things enjoyable with less sodium.

Additions also matter. Throwing a handful of vegetables into your usual dishes – extra onions, tomatoes, carrots, peas, spinach – boosts fibre and nutrients in meals you already cook. Swapping part of white rice or refined grains with whole grains is another easy upgrade.

Keep healthy snacks visible and easy: washed fruit, nuts in small containers, sliced vegetables in the fridge. When better options are ready, you reach for them more often.

These tweaks are not about perfection. They’re about nudging your daily average in a better direction, one meal at a time.
